The Best Bloody Mary Recipe

5 January 2010 No Comment

If you prefer to get an early start to your tailgate parties, you need to arm yourself with a bad-ass bloody mary recipe.  The beauty of the bloody mary is the unlimited potential combinations it can offer.  Everybody has their favorite though.  This is mine.

  • 1.5 oz tomato juice
  • 1.5 oz Clamato juice
  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • 2 dashes of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce
  • a couple drops of Tabasco sauce
  • dash of ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp horseradish
  • a few drops of lime juice
  • garnish with celery stalk, olives, peppers

Start with a cup full of ice, then add the tomato juice, Clamato, Vodka, then the rest.  I’ve seen green hot sauce, avocado, shrimp, and several other ingredients added to.  Personally, I like the avocado but obviously not a convenient addition in a parking lot.

Not so much a secret recipe – just my go-to blend to get the day started.  Do you have any key ingredients that set your bloody marys apart?
