How to Clean Your Grill

Worst part of the gameday experience (depending on your team of choice) is cleaning up your tailgate grill after the game.  This short video (courtesy of Lowe’s) gives you step-by-step instructions for cleaning your grill and tips for proper care and maintenance.  The video is geared more toward a home gas grill, but most of the tips are applicable for your portable grill as well.

Make the Perfect Grilled Burger

Here’s a nice video from the Exective Chef at Morton’s Steakhouse with some helpful tips on making the perfect burger.  To start, you’ll need two pounds of fresh ground sirloin, 1/2 cup of tomato juice, an egg, 1 tsp of salt, and 1/2 tsp of black pepper.  That should be enough for 4 small burgers.  Best thing about this video is that it doesn’t bring any unusual twists.  These are just the basic steps to making terrific burgers.

5 Games to Spice Up Your Tailgate Party

While some tailgaters are content to sit back, hoist beers, and watch one of the early games on a portable TV, others need to keep moving around.  They will prefer to jump around, mingle a bit, and stay warm.  Here are a few ideas on easy toys/games to set up at your tailgate to keep folks entertained while you are working the grill.

Tailgating Tips from the Rose Bowl

Nice video from the Rose Bowl. The big tips for beginners- show up early (some as early as 5am).  It also has a couple of good recipes for marinades and grilling tips.

My personal favorite from this video: the use of a taco grill.  This is a nice touch if you’ll be serving up a lot of Tex-Mex at your tailgate events.  The guy being interviewed uses the grill for chorizo and egg breakfast burritos, carne asada, fried chicken, and fried fish.  The host raves about the marinade, made from Sunny …
