8 Desserts for the Grill
That tailgate grill isn’t just for cooking up burgers and ribs. There are some pretty good desserts you can grill up too. After all, who wouldn’t want to satisfy their sweet tooth before heading into the stadium?
Here are 8 great dessert recipes to try out on your tailgate grill.
Classic S’mores – here is a version of the basic s’mores recipe, tailored for grilling. On a cold day, you can’t go wrong with s’mores.
Peanutty S’mores – described as “more gooey and more tasty”, this version replaces the traditional chocolate bar with a peanut butter cup.
Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores – substituting graham crackers for chocolate chip cookies? mmm….
Fruit
Bananas, Strawberries, and Peaches – this recipe from NPR is pretty basic – a nice mix of vegetables that work well on the grill.
Grilled Plantains – from Bobby Flay on the Food Network, this Grilled Plantains recipe is done with a rum-brown sugar glaze. Plantains work really well on the grill – they just need to be VERY ripe (almost black) to be sweet enough. Bobby also has a similar recipe with a spicy brown sugar glaze.
Fruit ‘n Cake Kabobs – not really sure what to think of this one, but certainly an original combination
Marinated Grilled Apples with Mint – another delicious but simple set of ingredients
Barbecued Pineapple – another grilled dessert featuring a rum and brown sugar glaze
